Ten male runners to watch for 2010
1. Mark Thomas of Republic Bank Limited.
Mark comes in head of the class in these top ten runners to watch based on his best time of 14.11 in the last four years (2006) posting for the one lap savannah. He also did a 4th place in the Sevilla Male cross country race. If he could get himself anyway close to 14.11 shape for the savannah he would be someone to definitely watch.
2. John Donaldson
John Donaldson is the 2nd runner to watch on the list with a 14.51 time for the savannah last year he holds the edge over any runner for second spot. Already for the year, based on a good run in the first race of the 2010 and a 5K to boot. He went under 20 minutes for the 5K and that should do well to keep in 2nd place as the runner to watch.
3. Gilford Mornix
Gilford Mornix would take the third spot on this list base based on his 2nd place finish in the male cross country. When it matters most we know he can perform. He starts slow but builds incredible momentum and it is hard to stop him.
4. Ian Gibbs
Ian Gibbs occupies fourth spot on the list of runners to watch, he was able to hold off an advancing John Donaldson to secure 4th place at Sevilla in the male cross country.
5. Ryan Pierre
Ryan Pierre – is surely a runner to watch in 2010. Ambitious and focus… Ryan has high hopes for 2010. His personal forecast is much higher than he is here on this list but it is up to him to prove he could nudge some of these guys down as he moves up.
6. Sean Edwards
Sean Edwards – based on present form and training and he has recently completed the CLICO international marathon in a time of 4.01. I think Sean would make a very good impression in CariFin if he competes. He has shown the kind of commitment and dedication that good runners are made of. And in going forward he definite a runner to watch.
7. Jean Marc de Boulet
Jean Marc de Boulet some refer to him as the 2009 spoiler, new kid on the block….. But that was 2009 and the thing is what he has to offer us in 2010. He burst on the scene with a 14.55, for the One lap Savannah and finished in 3rd place. Then garnered enough confidence to take 2nd place in the two other running events. He faded to 5th place on the big day at Sevilla. But he has started training for 2010 so we will watch and see what he can bring to the table for 2010.
8. Adrian Guy
Adrian Guy of CBTT could well have a good year in CariFin; he had a good run in October at CBTT 5K and place 8th at the One Lap Savannah with a time of 16.50.
With a little focus and motivation, we could see Adrian featuring quite high in the standing for CariFin 2010
9. Clint Adiah
Clint Adiah is definite a runner to watch, he has shown consistency and commitment to living an active lifestyle and it has paid off with a high placing in the CariFin ranking. He is know more for his exploits at the Torch run by running most of the course from Central Bank to Couva. He managed a 15.46 for the One Lap Savannah in 2009.
10. Jade Camps
Jade Camps is known for his consistency and courage, he is a guy who always go out to improve on his last performance. In 2009 he was sometimes in the top 10 or slightly out. But you can’t keep a good man down and you could see well Jade apply some of that tenacity to this year’s CariFin performance and claw his way as a bonafied finisher in the top 10 – CariFin ranking.
