Congratulations go out to the first time champions of the Carifin Cricket tournament, Inter-Commercial Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (IBL). IBL showed their batting prowess yet again, scoring the most runs overall in the tournament, highest score in a game (106) and having their lead runs scorer capturing the orange cap (player with most runs), Mr. Isa Emamdeen. Their performance was ideally a splendid team effort however, with the majority of the top order consistently contributing to the cause.
The other finalists, Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, reached their second consecutive cricket finals. However, after being crowned joint champions last year (due to rain out of game), they were unable to retain their half of the crown this year. Team Central Bank displayed a fine bowling and fielding performance, restricting one of the top ranked batting teams to the lowest score by a team batting first in the tournament. Individual awards to Team Central Bank included the player with the most wickets (purple cap), Mr. Dindial Ramrattan.
Overall, the teams involved all had a grand time and based on some of the shortcomings, the organisation recognises new ways to improve on this year’s activities. With the League version of the tournament expected to start in late July, early August, teams will be keen to wrestle for the newest trophy to become available.
