CariFin partners with PSI to promote Healthy Living

by carifinman · 0 comments

With two organizations geared towards one main goal…promoting a healthy lifestyle, CariFin Games 2014 promises to be an unstoppable force coursing through Trinidad and Tobago. Population Services International/Caribbean (PSI/C) has pledged its allegiance to CariFin Sports and Fitness Club as one of the Games’ sponsors. Population Services International is a non-profit organization with a global reach; PSI/C being its affiliate hub in our region.

In 2005, PSI/C began its quest in several Caribbean countries; Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Marteen, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. With its head quarters here in Trinidad and Tobago, PSI/C is engaged in fastidiously working to measurably contribute to the development of favourable environments that facilitate healthy lives among the people of the Caribbean.

In order to spread the message about HIV and intensify efforts to prevent this disease, PSI/C developed Got it? Get it. (GIGI), a powerful, youth oriented, Caribbean-flavoured brand that promotes condom use and connotes the availability of condoms.

CariFin Games 2014 is indeed excited to have PSI/C included in this year’s events. As the organization embarks upon the launching of its ‘Core’ brand, which will be directly targeting health, wellness and non-communicable disease prevention, PSI/C in link with CariFin Games’ will be setting up a media lounge at the One Lap Savannah event on Wednesday 9th April and at the Green Mile on Wednesday April 30th, 2014. The media lounge will consist of the following:

• PSI/C interview lounge (a branded tent set up to look like a talk show set)
• Filmed interviews with event participants
• Providing sexual and reproductive health informational material to attendees
• Providing free testing for blood sugar and cholesterol in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force
• Making available “Got it? Get it.” merchandise for sale

CariFin Games 2014 wishes to express its sincere gratitude to PSI/C for its efforts towards ensuring and promoting healthy living within Trinidad and Tobago and by extension the Caribbean, and for partnering with CariFin to ensure that the message of the need for a healthy lifestyle is being broadcasted throughout this year’s events.
