Guardian Group tops the medal table at CariFin Games 2015.
The winners of the CariFin 2015 Games were more than excited to receive their prizes for the recently held events, which took place over the period of 3 months from April 11 to June 07. The prize-giving event took place at Guardian Group building on Thursday August 27, 2015 at 5.30 p.m. The prize tables were gleaming with an assortment of trophies for individuals and teams. There was much jubilation in the atmosphere as the athletes obtained recognition from the organizing committee and the media. These games have been held annually for the last twenty-four (24) years its main objective is to promote health and fitness among the staff of the financial services sector.
After all the top performers of the various events were recognized, there remained one final question to be answered- Which team was the overall winner and CariFin Games 2015 champions?
Well no need to wonder anymore- the winning team was Team Guardian with a grand total of twenty-six (26) awards.
This would come as no shock as “Best First Timer” winner Ryan O’Neil walked away with three (3) top prizes which also included :- “Overall Cross Country Run:Male” and “Overall Winner: Best of 4 events: Run- Male” .
Jilleta Landeau represented for the ladies having copped second place in “Best of 4 Events: Overall Winners: Runners” and “Cross Country Run: Overall Winner:Runners”. Christopher Reid also walked away with prizes for 3rd place “Male: Best of 4 Events:Walkers” and “Fun Walk: Overall Winners:Walkers”.
The team that came in second place was Republic Bank with a total of twenty-four (24) awards. Their star athletes included Jo-Ann Hem Lee who took prizes for Age Group 50-59: Best of 4 Events: Runners- Female”, 5th place Fun Walk: Overall Winners:Walkers, “Spirit of the Games- Female” and “Cross Country Run: Age Group Prizes:Runners” . We also can’t forget that they were also awarded the “Miss Carifin 2015” title.
In third place with twenty-one (21) awards was Team First Citizens Bank with awards such as “Best Football Team”, “Are you fan enough?” and “Team with the most participants”. Neil Juman walked away with two (2) awards- as well as veteran John Donalson also walked away with second place in the “Best of 4 Events:Overall Winners:Runners” and “Cross Country Run: Overall Winners:Runners”.
While Sagicor did not come out on top as a team, we still need to recognize the achievements of the “Best First Timer-Female” awardee – Adona Joseph who also took the titles of “1st place Aerobic Burnout, Cross Country Female winner and Best of 4 events-Female. Other memorable mentions from team Sagicor was Victra George who placed 3rd overall in the females as well as their female cross country team took the Champion Female trophy.
