New Flame for CariFin Games 2014 Torch Relay!
A battery -operated LED Flame will replace the previous open flame. CariFin Games’ torchbearers are eager and excited to experience this new torch for the first time. CariFin Games is about fun, fitness and friendship. Removing that threat to personal safety represented by the previous open flame provides torch bearers a sense of freedom and excitement. Exactly what CariFin Games are all about.
In fact, many say they’re more confident to carry this new LED torch than the open flame. “I am looking forward to working with this new LED Torch and I am feeling a higher sense of safety for torchbearers in particular and relay in general, come Saturday April 05, 2014,” says Torch relay manager Ervin Beckles. Rajiv Soomarie, Team captain for IBL bank remarked, “Its effect is similar to the open flames but with none of the inherent dangers of an open flame and I welcome its introduction to CariFin Games 2014.”
Team Central Bank gets the first touch of carrying the LED Torch as the Relay starts on Independence Square heads west and turns right onto Edward Street, turns right back onto Independence Square North heading East, continues along Independence Square North up to very last street after the Cathedral and turns right, heading West on Independence Square South and then turns left onto Nelson Street and heads towards South Quay. It turns right onto South Quay and continues straight on to pass the torch in front of IBL Bank. From there the
Games Torch goes through Port of Spain touching the respective 10 participating institutions and heads down to St. James where Scotiabank hands over the Torch to team Guardian Group for its final leg of the 2014 journey.
Calling all participants from the participating institutions to come on out and be part of this historic Torch Relay to start the 23rd edition of CariFin games.
