CariFin Family Day & Cross Country 2018

Calling all competitors and supporters from the East, the West, the North and the South; let’s gather as all roads lead to beautiful Saville in Central Trinidad.  Its, here once again, CariFin’s Family Day and Cross Country. Sunday 20th May 2018.

There will be lots of intrigues as the excitement builds with the new Adult Novelty games that were added this year.  Competitors and supporters are both welcomed.

This year’s list of  Novelty events are as follows: –

1. 4 x 50 Meters Relay (2 female, 2 males
2. Feed me honey (1 male, 1 female))
3 Sack Relay (2 males, 2 females)
4 Say you say me (1 female, 1 male)
5 Duck Walk to run relay mixed (2 males, 2 females)
6 Shuttle Supreme (2 males, 2 females)
7 Tug – O- War finals
8  Dance Off (2 females, 2 males)

Here are the guidelines for the Novelty Events: –

Novelty Rules

  • Sack Relay – 2 males, 2 females

Two females will be at the finish line; two males will be at the start line.  One female will sit on the sack with baton in hand, facing the direction of the finish line.  At the blow of the whistle the female jumps up and gest into the sack, she will make her way to the starting line and hand over the baton to a male partner who then runs down to the finish line.  He hands over the baton to his female team mate who will then run up to the starting line and hand the baton over to her male team mate who is already in the sack. That person (male) will then jump to the finish line.

  • Shuttle Supreme – 2 males, 2 females

2 males and 2 females will line up in a single file facing the finish line.  Twelve stones (shuttles) will be placed in a heap next to a 3 litre cut water bottle.  At the whistle, one person at a time will run to the heap, pick up one shuttle, run back and place shuttle in a designated spot. Tag the person in line in a continuous relay.  After all twelve shuttles have been placed in the designated spot, the first person in line takes up a shuttle and run down and place it in the container.  That same person will tag the next person and so forth.  The person placing the last shuttle in the container will run to the finish line.  N.B. There must be twelve shuttles in the container at the finish line.

  • Duck Walk to Run Relay (2 males, 2 females)

One male with baton in hand Duck walks for 25 metres and hand over baton to one female who will then hop on her left leg to the finish line and hand over to the second male, who will run backwards to the starting line, hand over to the second female , who will then sprint to the finish line.

  • Feed Me Honey ( 1 male, 1 female)

The female sits on a chair facing the finish line holding a covered container with ten (10) seedless grapes. The male will stand at the finish line facing his female team mate with a toothpick in his hand.  At the whistle, he will run up to his partner (safety in mind) and go down on one knee place the toothpick in his mouth and uncover the container with the grapes.  He will pick up one grape at a time with the toothpick and feed his partner.  After all, ten grapes have been thoroughly consumed she will then sprint to the finish line with the bowl in hand.

  • Say you Say me (1 male, I female)

One member of staff, male or female and their live in spouse/companion will stand back to back holding a blue paddle (male) in their right hand and a pink paddle (female) in their left hand.  A series of questions will be read out – the idea is for both partners to answer the question by raising the same colour paddle. Once raised it cannot be change so choose wisely).  The couples who raise the same colour paddle will be allowed to continue.  The final three couples will vie for the top places.

Added to the excitement, we have once again included the Best Tent competition.  Tents would be judged on the following: –

  1. Three (3) minutes team presentation (30) Points
  2. Carifin Presents (10) Points
  3. Team Music (20) Points
  4. Interpretation of Theme (30) Points
