Plan Your 2011 Race Schedule

Sunday, January 30, 2011
We are already into a month of 2011, so now’s a great time to start thinking about your races for 2011. Having a few races on the calendar makes it easier to plan your training, and having specific goals will help maintain your motivation. In addition it is a good thing to know what races are coming up so they don’t take you by surprise:

There is a couple of places on the Internet to look for races. The number one site right now seems to be Trinidad Road Runners a great site with lots of local events to check out.  But these mostly include events that they are managing.

OdesseyTiming use to be a good go to place for races but up to this date there seems to no evidence of what is taking place on that site for 2011 as no races are posted up.

I spoke to Chin a Sang from Dream and he didn’t have much of any races besides the TTRAP 5KI and Venture Credit Union 5K which he sure is coming up this year.

CariFin events are still in a proposed stage with 2 events still to be confirmed by the committee.

Below are the proposed events:

Schedule of Events
Events Date Time Location
Torch Run Sat. Mar. 26, 2011 7.00 am From Port of Spain to Couva
One Lap Savannah Wed. April 06, 2011 5.00 pm Around the Q. P. S.
Green Mile Wed. April 13, 2011 5.00 pm Inside the sand track – Q.P.S.
Chancellor Challenge Wed. May, 11, 2011 5.00 pm Up Lady Chancellor Hill
Aerobics Burnout Wed. May 18, 2011 5.00 pm Eric Williams Plaza
Cricket & Football & All Fours Sat. May 21, 2011 10.00 am Republic Bank Grounds
CariFin X-C & Family Fun Day Sun, June 5, 2011 10.00 am Sevilla Golf Course – Couva
Prize distribution Sat. Mar. 26, 2011 4.30 pm To be announced

Stop in to your local running shop or sports store. They’ll probably have signs posted about upcoming races. If not, talk to one of the salespeople — they should know about local events and will probably have some recommendations for fun races that are worth traveling to.
