Hi this is the funfitnessfriendship show notes for our podcast  podcast or Internet Radio Show – number 58 – for Friday January 15, 2010.

Here we are bringing the financial services sector closer together through sports. We are challenging individuals to improve their level of fitness, to set clear goals. Here the emphasis is on motivation, building links, support and friendship.

What coming up in today’s program

  • We have the news
  • My brief banter
  • Tip of the week
  • Quote of the week
  • And links…. of the week.
  • And what coming up
  • In Next week show

News
This weekend – the week before CLICO International Marathon is TTUTA 10 K race. Over the years this race has been position as the speed test for the marathon a combination that so far seems t work.

Nikosi Mc Leish and Rodney Julien go head to head in the TTUTA 10K. When this pair race recently at EPOS 10 Mc Leish got the better of Julien by a few seconds.

The idea of a “Biggest Loser” competition has been thrown out to members of the financial services sector by CariFin. Some institutions have shown initial interest in the competition.

Invitations to teams have started to go out for participation in CariFin 2010 – the 19th Edition.

Also in the news the organizing committee is inviting interesting persons who wish to serve on the organizing committee to please send an email to admin@funfitnessfriendship.com with the request.

The organizing committee is welcoming ideas that will bring innovation and creativity to CariFin 2010.

Brief banter about local scene over the past week.

We must be aware of the runners within CariFin who are doing the CLICO marathon – if we are going to support them as they run through our towns and communities – those brave souls who have set out on the 26.2 miles journey. These people have been training very hard and consistent and if you could be out there cheering for them, supporting them it would be great!

Marathon fever is in the place

The CBTT pair of Shawn Edwards and Esla Anthony is aiming for a sub 4 hours race. I have not heard from Ruth as to her status as a long standing participant in the race. Jade

My ears are peel to hear what the foreign contingent is like for this race.

I heard from sources with CITI that their branch in Haiti has collapse in the earth quake so the senior staff at CITI is working feverishly to find answers to what is happening in Haiti as what is happening with their employees.

A lot of people would come out and line the streets from Chaguanas to the Hasely Crawford Stadium for the CLICO one of the most excited road races in the Caribbean.

Tip of the week: – Motivation

  Sign up for a race as soon as you feel up to it.

  Find a committed running partner. It is much harder to skip a run when you have someone else depending on you.

  Remember that you will have plateaus in your progress and tough days along the way.

  It gets easier.

  Accept and appreciate the fact that not every single run can be a good one.

  Be prepared to remove the words “can’t” and “never” from your vocabulary.

  “Do not compare yourself to others. Run within yourself and for yourself first.

Quote of the week

From the blog, Sportminded: ” The body does not want you to do this. As you run, it tells you to stop but the mind must be strong. You always go too far for your body. You must handle the pain with strategy…It is not age; it is not diet. It is the will to succeed.” –Jacqueline Gareau, 1980 Boston Marathon champ

The links of the week:

My choice for link of the week would go to the video interview on flotrac with Ron Warhurst a running coach from Michigan – he talks about tools that he sees the best runners having. Some of the tools he talks about deal with training smart, consistency, and leg speed- alls things to help runners get to new levels.

There is an interview with him talking about these tools here he talk about leg speed. About arm carriage….he talks about biomechanics… how to carry arms….. He talk about relaxation… he emphasizes leg speed, turn over and relaxation.
