RBL goes for the hattrick

A big turnout is expected for the CariFin Games 1 Lap Savannah

The financial services sector would be out in their glory to take part in the 1st competitive event of the 27th Edition of the CariFin Games. Excitement would fill the air opposite T.G.I. Fridays, as Republic Bank has thrown down the gauntlet to fellow members of the financial services sector as the team to win the overall champion trophy for the 3rd time in a row. At 5.30pm, 8 of the top financial institution will vie for top honors as both walkers and runners will challenge for supremacy and bragging rights in the 1st of 8 events that make up these Games. At the end we would see if RBL would be able to hold on to the financial services sector top sporting trophy or if some other team in the industry would rise up and steal their glory. Team captain for RBL Somers Julien – “We feel good at Republic Bank and for 2018, we want to bring it on, we want to make it a hat trick and you see the team is well geared up, this year we have a large contingent and we want to sustain that throughout the games. We are looking forward to CariFin!”

This year’s participating institutions are Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, Republic Bank Limited, First Citizens Bank, Guardian Group, Royal Bank of Canada, JMMB Group, Sagicor Life Inc and ANSA Financial Services.

The 1 Lap Savannah course loops around the Queen’s Park Savannah, a distance of approximately 2.28 miles; from last year we added a little piece to the usual course, meaning instead of starting at the entrance opposite TGI and going out unto and based on the results of previous years, the first finisher will be expected at the starting point at TGI Friday’s in approximately 14 minutes.

In 2017 we saw Tessa Weekes walk away with the female walking champion title and there is no doubt that this year won’t be a walk in the park, so all competitors must bring their A game if they intend to take this title or any other title this year.

March 03rd – May 20th

CariFin Games, founded in 1991, is dedicated to the promotion of an individual’s responsibility for their own health and fitness by encouraging them to live a more active lifestyle. This sense of personal responsibility is not offered in isolation. There is also the opportunity for friendly rivalry and competition, networking and camaraderie, as represented in our slogan: “Fun, Fitness & Friendship”. Additionally, for the last few years CariFin Games has partnered with the Voice of Lupus foundation, where proceeds from the registration of the games go towards the foundation.
