My participation in CariFin dates back almost (6) years, but CariFin 2014 continues to be a “new” experience. It’s new because I am now “learning how to run”, having joined the TT Road Runners a few months ago. For the first (3) races in 2014, I tried to apply basic running techniques, and the results have been great…although I did not win any of those events, I made my best times across all my years in CariFin.
As such, my focus for Sevilla will be less about the competition, and more about learning how I execute on a course like this – it is so different and much more challenging than the first (3). I expect that only after running on Sunday, will I have a better understanding of how “I should have run”.
While there were some new faces among the female competitors for 2014, we missed the game changers (Wendy D’Arbasie and Esla Anthony) – we look forward to seeing them in 2015. Between now and then, I will be an eager student, learning how to improve my technique, and hopefully, better prepared to present them with a challenge for 2015.
