Ms CariFin Fitness Pageant winner

She comes from a family of six children and she lives in the humble community of Belmont. Although she has a hectic career as Teller Supervisor at First Citizens Bank West Court Branch, Ms. Falomi Marcano loves her profession and apart from that she still makes time for her family, friends and to do what makes her happy. Marcano enjoys reading, music, exercising and travelling. She also has a keen interest for aerobics as she puts it “I absolutely love aerobics and the high I get after an intense workout.”  Due to her hectic career, she trains at least three times a week in the areas of spin to aerobics, running, swimming, aerobics, volleyball, aerobics, aerobics…….aerobics. Perhaps it is her warm spirit, determination and passion for exercising and aerobics that bought her to victory when she was crowned as Miss CariFin 2017 at the CariFin Family and Fun Day which was held on Sunday May 28, 2017at the Sevilla Golf Course.

Falomi understands that success comes with a price- hard work. Her strong spirituality and belief in the Almighty exalts the biblical scripture “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phillipians 4:13. Although very dedicated to her career she believes there should be a balance so always make time for yourself to do what you love to do. Work hard, play hard. In addition she loves what she does so her daily duties and routines never seem tedious. “I tend to try to get my workouts done early if I know my day would be long. I love working out so it never becomes a chore. Each workout is an opportunity to challenge myself and push my body a little more than before.”

As a participant in the CariFin Games for more than five years, she is no stranger to the fun, fitness and friendship.  She enters the Urban Challenge, Cross Country and Aerobics competition every year and she won the Aerobics Burnout Competition at least three times. This was Marcano’s second time entering Miss CariFin and she was able to gain the crown. To her it was a great accomplishment and feeling of elation. Her anxieties and doubts were all put on hold by the encouragement that she got from her friends, work colleagues and family. Falomi is very thankful for the tremendous support given to her throughout the competition by her First Citizens supporters. She was overwhelmed by the amount of supporters that she had by her side that day, shouting, dancing and waving the pantone colours.

Falomi mentally and physically prepared for the Miss CariFin competition in her words…

“The competition challenged me and really brought out a different side of me. I actually told myself to go hard in spite of my own personal fears, and all the last minute hiccups and hurdles that arose that week. On the day of the competition I remember actually trying to keep my focus, I did this by mentally running through my routine and I deliberately did not look at any of the other competitors’ performances until I had actually completed mine. I said a final prayer and then performed”.

The overall experience was an enjoyable and rewarding one for her and she would do it again without hesitation.

Her closing words of advice to all members in the financial services sector were in close keeping to the motto of CariFin- ‘Fun, Fitness, Friendship’.  “Make time for you and have fun doing it. Challenge yourself and it’s always the time that you think you cannot do it is when you can, so never quit.”
